River Bend's Certified Director
Sherry Berkley
A Certified Sweet Adeline Director with more than 20 years of barbershop experience, Sherry has been a director or an assistant director of four different Sweet Adeline choruses. Sherry started her barbershop career in the River Bend Chorus in 1982 and served as Assistant Director for 14 years.
In the early 1990's, Sherry directed the Bonneyville Mill Chorus in Elkhart, IN and also served as director of the Little River Chorus of Angola, IN from 1997 to 2001. In 1996, she joined the Melodeers Chorus in Northbrook, IL where she has served as an assistant director, lead section leader, and tape evaluator.
During her twenty+ years in Sweet Adelines, Sherry has sung in numerous quartets and is currently the lead in 2007 Region 3 Top Ten Quartet. JazzKatz. In addition, Sherry has the honor of holding three International Chorus Championship gold medals earned by the Melodeers in Salt Lake City in 1997, Orlando in 2000, and Phoenix in 2003.
Sherry has also been active on the Lake Michigan Region 3 Management Team. having held the offices of Education Coordinator, Directors Coordinator, and Chapter Coordinator. She is currently the Director Certification Program Coordinator for the region.
When she is not singing in two choruses and a quartet, Sherry works full time as a hospital pharmacist. She and her husband, Clay live in South Bend and have five feline children.
River Bend is honored to call Sherry our director as she brings her 20+ years' experience full circle back to the place it all began for her.
