|Congratulations to Monika Scott, our new Singer of the Month. Monika joined us as a tenor in August, after attending our Camp Harmony event.
Lorie Garver passed along the award, stating "It's a marvel to watch and listen to Monika as she carries the tenor part all by herself most of the time. She is so deserving of the necklace for her courage and hard work."
During our January 30 rehearsal, director Sherry Berkley presented longevity awards.
Please be sure to attend our concert on December 12, or stop by Howard Park on December 17 at 3 pm! These are the last public events of 2023.
The chorus will resume rehearsals on January 9, 2024. Guests are welcome to visit any rehearsal. See our information page for more details.
Congratulations to Lorie Garver, our newest Singer of the Month.
Mary Aupperle passed the singer's necklace to Lorie, noting her enthusiasm for all things chorus, including singing and leading warmups, and emphasizing that she is also encouraging and kind.
Lorie has been a wonderful addition to our Lead section. We are thrilled to have you in our chorus!

|Welcoming a new member is always exciting, and at last night's rehearsal we did it twice! Monika Scott and Lorie Garver auditioned several weeks ago, and Membership Coordinator Debbie Strasser presented them with their chorus name badges. Monika joins our tenor section, and Lorie is our newest lead. Welcome Monika & Lorie!
What a great culmination of Camp Harmony! We had a great turnout for our concert, and it was wonderful to perform for all of our family and friends.
|The Valleyaires are performing at Art Beat, and have graciously invited us to open for them. Come see us perform our Camp Harmony songs August 19 at noon on stage #1 (just south of the Century Center parking lot), and be sure to stay to listen as the Valleyaires and their quartets perform.
|Camp Harmony has been an exciting and educational event, both for our chorus members and our new guests. Several guests have decided they want to join us, and last night we were thrilled to have Membership Coordinator Debbie Strasser present Cindy Tachman with her name badge!
Welcome to our bass section, Cindy!
At our last rehearsal, Tamara Ciszczon was chosen as River Bend Chorus Singer of the Month for August/September by Gina Green. Tamara has quickly become a very involved chorus member by inviting our newest member Susan Siemers, assisting in marketing our Harmony Camp event, and asking helpful clarifying questions which benefit her entire section.
|Tonight at the end of rehearsal, Membership Coordinator Debbie Strasser presented Susan Siemers with her name badge. Welcome to River Bend Chorus's bass section, Susan!
|We welcomed 6 guests for the first night of Camp Harmony last night! Our two new songs, Dancing Queen and One Fine Day, are so much fun to learn and sing together.
There's still plenty of time to get in on the fun! You can register and come next week. The learning tracks you'll get to take home will help you catch up quickly.

|Congratulations to our Gina Green, on being selected River Bend Chorus Singer of the Month for June & July.
Gina was chosen because she recently joined River Bend Chorus as a Lead, but has also been volunteering to sing Tenor as well. Many Sweet Adelines have sung different parts over the years, but few start out that doing it immediately.
Way to overachieve, Gina! We are so glad you have joined us!
|At this week's rehearsal, we were thrilled to welcome our 4th new member this year, Mary Aupperle, as Membership Coordinator Debbie Strasser presented Mary with her official chorus name badge. Mary joined the best section (obviously this refers to the bass section!) Welcome, Mary!
Another chorus year is in the books!
|Our summer guest event runs from July 11 through August 15. More details will be coming soon. Spread the word!
|At last night's rehearsal, we welcomed our TWO new members! Membership Coordinator Debbie Strasser presented River Bend Chorus name tags to Tamara Ciszczon and Gina Green. We are thrilled to have already doubled the size of our lead section this spring, and we are looking forward to seeing who May will bring to us!

|Congratulations to our newest member, Carly Legg, on being selected River Bend Chorus Singer of the Month for April & May.
Carly was chosen because of the way she immediately jumped in and became a part of the group during the busy midst of her life. Additionally, she recently stepped up to accept the role of Communication Coordinator!
Thank you Carly! We are so glad you have joined us!
As Sweet Adelines, musical education is one of our primary missions. At our rehearsal this week, we welcomed Battle Creek Chorus director and Region 17's Education Coordinator, Lynne Peirce. Lynne worked with us on sound placement, enunciation, connecting with our conductor, and energy. What a great learning and bonding experience!
At rehearsal last night, Jean Smith passed the River Bend Chorus Singer of the Month award to Sherri Fox.
Jean specifically noted that when Sherri rejoined our chorus in 2019, she immediately jumped in to help out in many ways, including volunteering to be our Finance Coordinator. We all appreciate Sherri's dedication and service, as well as her strong contribution in our bass section. Congratulations, Sherri!
|On December 19, we joined South Bend/Mishawaka Valleyaires to present A Cappella Christmas, our annual holiday benefit concert. We want to express our thanks to all of our advertisers as well as those who attended the concert... this year's record proceeds of $2358.10 will truly make a difference to this wonderful local organization, and we couldn't have done it without you.
Today, River Bend Chorus Director, Sherry Berkley, and Finance Coordinator, Sherri Fox, met to present the check to Dorota Janik, Executive Director of Reins of Life - Therapeutic horseback riding.
Several weeks ago, we were joined by The Valleyaires, as well as Santa Claus, as we resumed our annual Christmas benefit concert. It was wonderful to perform again, and we were thrilled to learn this week that we raised $2358 for Reins of Life, this year's beneficiary.
|River Bend Chorus had our first holiday performance since 2019! What fun to be back in front of a live audience, celebrating the Season in Song! As part of the History Museum’s Christmas at Copshaholm, we gave two performances of our Holiday repertoire of Christmas carols and holiday songs. We were joined by the quartet ‘Serenade’ with special selections of Home for the Holidays and Christmas Time is Here.
With a private performance and the benefits show yet to come, the joy of singing has made this years ‘count-down to Christmas’ very merry and bright!
We hope you are able to join us on the 19th to celebrate A Cappella Christmas with us!
|We are bringing back a revised version of an old tradition.
Because of her dedication to attending our practices in spite of several months of difficulty, our first River Bend Chorus Singer of the Month is Jean Smith. Congratulations Jean - we're so glad you are part of our chorus!
|Tonight we had the exciting opportunity to welcome a new member to our baritone section! Deb Strasser, our membership coordinator, presented Carly Legg with her chorus name badge. Welcome, Carly!
Congratulations to member Marcia Barrett on being our River Bend Sweet Adeline of the Year!
We loved singing at ArtBeat this year. There was a great crowd and the rain held off! We also had a booth where we were able to meet a lot of music lovers and we sold a lot of popcorn from Shirley's Popcorn. We can't wait for ArtBeat 2023!
|Peg Adams. one of River Bend's charter members, recently was recognized as a 50-year member of Sweet Adelines, International. |River Bend founding member, Sandy Pisani, achieved the mileston of 50 years as a member of Sweet Adelines International. A long-time lead singer in the chorus, Sandy also was our hair and makeup chairperson for many years, making sure we always looked beautiful whether performing for local audiences or on the regional contest stage.

Congratulations Kandi! Your energy and attitude and all you've done for our chorus are so appreciated. We will miss you as you move, and your new chorus will be so lucky to have you.
